Known only as The Mayor, the crown prince of Jefferton County is tall and delusional. He has presided over Jefferton for 12 years, thanks to a very low voter turnout, some family connections and a bizarre law requiring all mayors to serve 13-year terms.

Tom Peters arrived in Jefferton fresh from failure in a number of other small towns. He describes himself as an entrepreneur, but has never successfully created a business or brought a concept to life.

Renee is abundantly courteous and vacant. She runs the office according to her own delusions, which sometimes keeps people waiting much longer than necessary. She has braces in her mouth.

Joy, Tom's wife, is huge and the mother of three disgustingly overweight boys. She is terribly unhappy, morbidly obese and due to a loveless second marriage always giving Tom hell. She's forever disappointed in him.

The members of the City Council are generic-looking businessmen. They are overly agreeable and bland. They sugarcoat bad news with "sounds great" or "excited to move forward on that" or "fax that over to me." In the end, they usually hold up the Mayor's plans in a bureaucratic haze of double-talk and goofy tech-speak.

Terry is 27, but because of an addiction to his inhaler, he looks, sounds and acts like a 12-year-old. He is the Mayor's nephew.

Three seemingly wise ancient men who sit in judgment of the town and the Mayor. They dress like colonial patriots. They speak on top of each other and frequently consult a glass-encased Mayflower replica.

The City Hall intern, Dimitri is young, eager, highly motivated and easily excitable. He is often given assignments to call local businesses for Tom and the Mayor's projects.
